Passion!

Working in Higher education I must have one of THE best jobs ever. Sometimes in the midst of things I forget to notice the things that really matter. But could never miss noticing the importance of PASSION.

This was one of many "supadupa” weeks filled with great conversations with colleagues, students and employers in (in our case) the Retail area. And again PASSION seems to be a crucial (the main?) unifying factor for success and happiness.

Students talking about how faculty can inspire them and motivate them by being committed, passionate and … a bit weird sometimes. And yes of course.... We'll never be able to make every student happy. Make no mistake. We do get our share of sharp feedback as well, but having passionate colleagues is key for good education and... Fun! Many of us can remember that one teacher or professor that made such a big impact in our lives.  Not just for his or her knowledge but definitely also for the personal commitment, the passion and the fun that was put in to it. Having a team of professionals that can be serious and demanding but also disturbingly crazy at times is such a treat. I do have great colleagues that can really learn and work with their students but can "freak out" as well. And sure, we do make our mistakes and we have "off days" as well. But that’s okay as long as we can tap in to our passion for Retail, students, and colleagues every day. What a good way to be an educator and what a great way to love your job!
